Dr. Kumar’s Nano and Green Analytical Technology Laboratory in Kaohsiung Medical University-Taiwan was established in 2016 with keen multi-disciplinary analytical and sustainable chemistry research interests mainly focusing on environmental water, food, cosmetics, and drugs impacts on public health by identifying the emerging trace constituents/contaminants/toxins of anthropogenic and natural origin by developing new green analytical methodologies using novel nanomaterials. In recent years, increasing concerns about serious health risks in humans because of the presence of emerging contaminants (such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products, mycotoxins, allergens, pesticides, veterinary drug residues, additives, artificial preservatives and perfluorochemicals, and impurities or other illegal ingredients) in drinking water, foods, cosmetics, and drugs which demanded a series of actions globally. Therefore, simplification, miniaturization, lab-in-syringe, and semi-/fully automation of sample preparation/extraction techniques are the critical tasks and are the main aim of our research group to develop low-cost, simple, rapid, semi-automated, efficient, and eco-friendly techniques are our critical focus along with chromatographic/mass spectrometric/electrochemical technologies for monitoring toxic compounds in various complex sample matrices, including foods, environmental water, drugs, and biological/clinical samples. In addition to our other minor research interests, such as environmental pollutants degradation for wastewater treatment, electrochemical catalysts/sensors, and green energy using green extraction technology.
