Advanced Environment Friendly Technologies Towards Sustainable Development
Professor Chiranjib Bhattacharjee
摘要 :
Advanced Environment-Friendly Technologies aim to minimize environmental degradation while ensuring the sustainable use of resources for future generations. These technologies are designed to conserve natural resources, and promote renewable energy, zero liquid discharge norms to achieve sustainability goals. Water Purification and Conservation is a thrust area of research to contribute to sustainability. Theme of this presentation is to highlight the multifaceted application of membrane technology in achieving sustainable goals. Membrane technology enables the recycling of wastewater for agricultural, industrial, and potable uses, recovery of value added components contributing to circular economy, zero discharge concept and environmental protection. Membrane bioreactors have the potential to implement zero discharge perception to the dairy industry, recovery of important proteins from whey and also to produce functional food components from whey. ‘Photocatalytic membrane reactors’ (PMRs), have the potential of mineralizing persistent organic chemicals and safe discharge to the environment. Membrane technology has also the application of separation of oil from produced water. Advanced membrane separation processes involving nano-material modified membranes have also prominence in removing geogenic contaminants from groundwater. This presentation involves emphasizing the salient features of membrane technology as an ecofriendly approach towards sustainable development.
