Microscopic Aspects of the Electrochemical Reactions of Magnesium
朱鵬維 教授
摘要 :
Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys are important lightweight materials widely used in consumer electronics, transportation, and medical equipment. However, because of the high reactivity and poor protectiveness of the surface film, Mg alloys are not only susceptible to corrosion but also galvanic corrosion when in contact with other metallic components. Nevertheless, the chemical reactivity of Mg also opens up new ideas, such as Mg-based biodegradable implants and battery systems with Mg metal anodes. In our group, the electrochemical reactions of Mg and Mg alloys are studied through combinations of electrochemical measurements and multiscale microstructure characterization techniques. In this talk, some recent works in our group will be discussed, including the relationship between localized corrosion and the alloy microstructure of a biodegradable ZX21 alloy in a simulated physiological environment, the stripping/plating behavior on Mg metal anodes in a nonaqueous electrolyte, and the microstructure of electrodeposited Mg for rechargeable Mg batteries.
