Gas separation by adsorption technology
Prof. Jin Shang
摘要 :
Gas separation by adsorption technology
學經歷 :
Prof. Jin Shang is a tenured Associate Professor leading the Gas Adsorption Lab in the School of Energy and Environment at the City University of Hong Kong. He did his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne and postdoc worked at the University of Melbourne and Georgia Institute of Technology. He discovered a new gas separation mechanism, i.e., the molecular trapdoor mechanism, which has been recognized as the 4th mechanism for adsorptive gas separation. Prof. Shang specializes in molecular adsorption, separation, catalysis, storage, and sensing using porous materials such as zeolites and metal-organic frameworks.
Jin Shang's group is focused on understanding the fundamental physical chemistry of the molecular adsorption process via combined experimental and computational methods, in order to engineer designer adsorbents and advance the adsorption science underpinning separation, catalysis, sensing, and storage. The research is aimed at solving problems in the environment and energy field, including carbon capture and utilization, methane purification from natural gas/biogas/landfill gas, nitrogen oxides removal and abatement, volatile organic compounds removal, and energy gas storage, etc.
Prof. Shang has published over 110 papers (h-index 45, citations > 5000, as of November 2023) in journals such as Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, Chemical Science, Advanced Science, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, Chemical Communications, Chemical Engineering Journal, Environmental Science & Technology, Green Chemistry, etc.
