Dreams of Sustainability: Towards an Ecological History of Plastics in Chinese East Asia. 永續之夢：生態視角下的東亞華人塑膠工業史
陳穎佳 教授
摘要 :
陳穎佳副教授為美國衛斯理大學歷史系副教授，專長為東亞史以及「社會中的科學（Science in Society）」。訪問成功大學期間，將蒐集有關化工產學相關歷史資料。在本講中，陳教授將聚焦於bakelite, polyurethane以及PVC等材料是如何作為象牙和木材等有機材料的可持續替代品，進而進行銷售；也將借用生態學領域的理論，描繪東亞華人地區塑膠製造業的發展。最後，將結合在Dow Chemicals所發現的歷史資料，與研究初步想法結合，做出科學史的論述。
