Design and Application of Functional Materials for Photovoltaic

摘要 :
The design and synthesis of functional materials were found to be a very powerful way to enhance the solar-to-electricity conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The usages of conductive polymers as the electro-catalytic materials or non-conductive polymers as the gel-type electrolyte played very important roles in improving the cell performance up to 9%. Systematically investigation showed that the proper application of these functional materials would be the key for future industrial applications. On the other hand, the design and synthesis of small dye molecules could effectively suppress the dark current as well as the unfavorable charge recombination in the DSSCs. With the crown-ether and tetraphenylethylene tethered phenothiazine-based double-anchored sensitizers, good cell performance about 10% were obtained at 1 sun and 27% at room light.
