摘要 :

Membrane extrusion is a technique that produces emulsion droplets by forcing a dispersed phase through a microporous membrane into a continuous phase.  Membrane extrusion has many advantages over traditional emulsification methods, including, controlled droplet size, low energy consumption, suitable for shear-sensitive ingredients. Membrane extrusion produces emulsions with narrow droplet size distributions and very fine emulsions. Membrane extrusion can be combined with self-emulsification to create nanocapsules and nanoemulsions. Direct membrane emulsification involves formation of drops directly from two separate liquids by passing one liquid (the dispersed or internal phase) through the membrane into another immiscible liquid. Premix membrane emulsification is a promising alternative to high-pressure homogenization for producing lipid nanoemulsions, which involves repeatedly extruding a coarse pre-emulsion through a nanoporous membrane. Membrane emulsification process has immense application in pharmaceutics and biotechnology, like creating colloidal oil-in-water emulsions as drug carriers, for encapsulating probiotics, for survival during processing, storage, and consumption, for creating low-fat spreads with a creamy, soft taste and surprising stability. The membrane extrusion process is widely used in food packaging to create thin, flexible plastic films that provide barriers to moisture, air, and contaminants. These films help to preserve the freshness and extend the shelf life of food products. This presentation involves exploration of the various dimension of ‘Membrane Extrusion’ process to design a sustainable process of future.
